What Is the TOEFL iBT Test? The TOEFL iBT test measures your ability to use and understand English at the university level. And it evaluates how well you combine your listening, reading, speaking and writing skills to perform academic tasks.

Speaking: students are trained to respond to questions, participate in academic discussions, summarize what they read and hear, and express their views on topics under discussion.

Reading: ability to understand university-level academic texts and passages. In many academic settings around the world, students are expected to read and understand information from textbooks and other academic materials written in English.

Listening: The Listening section measures your ability to understand spoken English. In academic settings, you must be able to listen to lectures and conversations.

Writing: The Writing section measures your ability to write in English in an academic setting. In all academic situations where writing in English is required, you must be able to present your ideas in a clear, well-organized manner.

What is the difference between the TOEFL iBT® and TOEFL® PBT tests?
 
The TOEFL iBT® test is administered via the Internet, and the TOEFL PBT test is administered in a paper-delivered format.

The TOEFL iBT test measures reading, listening, speaking and writing skills. It is offered more than 50 times a year and is administered online at testing sites around the world.

The TOEFL PBT test measures reading, listening, grammar and writing skills and is currently offered only in locations where testing via the Internet is not available.

How often is the test given? The TOEFL iBT test is given on fixed dates, more than 50 times a year. Select your test date and location https://www.ets.org/bin/getprogram.cgi?test=toefl.
Can I take the entire test in 1 day? Yes, the test is given in 1 day. The test takes about 4 hours, but with check-in you should plan to be at the test center for at least 4½ hours.
Can I retake the test? Yes, you can. There is no limit to the number of times you can take the test, but you cannot take it more than once in a 12-day period. If you already have a test appointment, you cannot register for another test date that is within 12 days of your existing appointment.

What is the test fee refund policy? If you cancel your registration before the 4-day advance deadline, you will receive a refund of half the original test fee you paid. Refunds are in U.S. dollars. Cash refunds are not available.
How long is the validity of Toefl? Scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam is valid for two years from the date of the exam.
How long does it take for the Toefl scores to come out? Official Score Reports. Printed score reports are mailed approximately 13 days after your test date. Allow 7–10 days after that date for mail delivery in the United States, and more time for mail delivery to other locations.
