NTSE – National talent search examination




who is this course for NTSE is a national level scholarship program in India to identify and recognize students with high intellect and academic talent. It is the most prestigious exam at secondary level in the country.

SYLLABUS Mental Ability Test (MAT) This test is given to the candidates to judge their power of reasoning, ability to think, ability to judge, evaluate or discriminate, ability to visualize in the space, spatial orientation, etc. A variety of questions, for example: analogies, classification, series, pattern perception, hidden figures, coding decoding, block assembly, problem solving etc. are used for this purpose.


In SAT, the Mathematics ,SOCIAL SCIENCE and Science questions will be asked from the chapters in the syllabus of class 9 and 10. The Social Science questions will also be asked from the class 9 and 10 NCERT textbooks.

What is The eligibility for NTSE The student of Class X standard is eligible to take NTSE.
From where I can get the NTSE first stage (state level) forms?  Students can enroll themselves for the examination through the school only.
How many exams are there in the NTSE? First stage (STSE – State Talent Search Examination) is the state level.  After clearing stage -1 selected student are eligible to write Stage- II
How many scholarship are given in NTSE? 1000
Is there any reservation in NTSE scholarship?



Yes, reservation for SC, ST and Physically handicapped students.
Where are the examination centers for the first stage? It is available in almost all districts center of the states.
Where my interview would be held? Now interview have been discontinued in NTSE.
Is there any state quota in NTSE? Yes there is state quota in NTSE Stage-1 . i.e. a selected number of candidates from the state will qualify the first round (STSE). However there is no state quota for the final result.
When the result of NTSE Stage- 1 held in November will be declared? Normally it takes 2-4 months depending upon the state.



Is there any negative marking in NTSE?



Yes ! from this session NTSE has introduced negative marking scheme ( in stage-II )
What type of questions is there in NTSE Stage -1 exam? Objective – Multiple Choice Questions. Single correct questions in the First stage.



 Can I request for evaluation / rechecking of my mark sheet? No, the NCERT do not allow for it . However you can get your score by RTI in case you do not receive your score.
What is the advantage of clearing NTSE? The scholarships under the present scheme are awarded to the candidates for pursuing courses in sciences and social sciences up to doctoral level and in professional courses like medicine and engineering up to second-degree level subject to the fulfillment of the conditions provided in this brochure.
