|who is this course for||Kishore vaigyanik protsahan yojana(KVPY) is an ongoing national program of fellowship in basic sciences, initiated and funded by the dept of science and technology, govt of india, to attract exceptionally highly motivated students for pursuing basic science courses and research career in science.
Objective of the program is to identify students with talent and aptitude for research, help them realize their academic potential, encourage them to take up research career in science and ensure the growth of best scientific minds for research and development in the country.
1. The question paper consists of two parts (both contain only multiple choice questions) for 100 marks. There will be four sections in Part I (each containing 15 questions) and four sections in Part II (each containing 5 questions).
For SB +2
1.The question paper consists of two parts (Part A contains multiple choice questions and Part B contains descriptive type questions) for 100 marks. It consists of 80 questions of 1 mark each and 40 questions of 2 marks each. There will be four sections allotted for (1) Mathematics, (2) Physics, (3) Chemistry and (4) Biology.
2. In Part A you have to attempt any 3 subjects out of 4 subjects . In Part B you have to attempt 2 Subjects out of 4 Subjects.
3. In Part – A each correct answer gets 1 mark and for each incorrect answer 0.25 mark will be deducted.
4. In Part – B each correct answer gets 2 marks and for each incorrect answer 0.50 mark will be deducted.
|SYLLABUS||There is no prescribed syllabus for the written exam. The written exam aims to test the understanding and analytical ability of the student than his/her factual knowledge. However, students are tested for the syllabus up to class X/XII/1st year of B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. as applicable.|

|What is eligibility criteria for KVPY||Students enrolled in XI std (science) and having secured a minimum of 80% (70% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in maths and science in X boards.
Fellowship of students will be activated only if they join an UG course in basic sciences (B.Sc / B.S / B.Math / Int M.Sc / MS) in 2018-2019 after having secured a min of 60% ( 50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in science subjects in XII std.

|What is the syllabus for KVPY?||There is as such no exact syllabus to study to take this examination. This exam is only meant to test your analytical skills and reasoning ability.
However, in the broader concept, knowledge of Physics, Biology and Chemistry syllabus up to class XII is required to appear for the exam. Here are some of the best books to help you score better marks at the exam. They are based on the latest syllabus of KVPY exam.
|How do i apply for KVPY?||Candidates must apply through online only. No hard copy of the application is available.|
|Is it necessary that the students have to study all the four subjects i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics?||In the Stream-SA all questions are compulsory (Science and Mathematics)
In respect of the streams SB and SX , there will be four sections in Part I (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics) and four sections in Part II (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics). Candidates are allowed to answer any THREE of the four subjects in Part I and any TWO of the four subjects in Part II
|When does the KVPY advertisement come in the newspapers?||The advertisement for the KVPY Fellowship appears in all the national dailies on the Technology day(May 11), and on the second Sunday of July every year.|
|Can I avail the KVPY Fellowship along with a merit scholarship?||KVPY does not allow its Fellows to receive simultaneously fellowship /scholarship from more than one source, either government or private. In case they are in receipt of any other fellowship or scholarship, they will have to relinquish it in order to avail the KVPY Fellowship.|
|When can I get the application form?||The KVPY is publishing its detailed advertisement on 2nd Sunday of the month of July every year. The application form can be obtained after the publication of the advt.|
|What is to be expected in a KVPY interview
|Candidates, who qualify and short listed on the basis of KVPY Rank List, are called for KVPY Interview.
For receiving a fellowship, both aptitude test and interview marks are considered.
Interview Session of KVPY may focus on strategy to determine personality of candidates and analyze candidates holistically.
